A Two-Year Mountain Retreat, Edison Liu

When I was younger, I would attend young people's mountain retreats. Away from the world, these times in the mountains were a big help to me in my Christian experience. The brothers with us would help us to contact God in practical ways, such as reading the Bible, praying, and singing. I think the Lord that He brought me to those times so that I would be preserved from this crooked and perverted generation (Philippians 2:15). Every time I went, my love for the Lord was rekindled as we drove back home.

However, those mountain retreats were helpful only in a limited way. Lacking a continual, fresh, and living contact with the Lord Jesus, I became inevitably the same as I was before the retreat within a couple of weeks. I was given spiritual food to eat on the mountains, but was hungry soon after because I did not know how to get the food for myself when the retreat ended.

Then I came to the Full-time Training in Anaheim (FTTA). In a loving environment with other young people, I learned how to contact Jesus for my daily life. I was not just a Christian on the weekends, but I was a Christian living a Christian life! As I was exposed to the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee in the FTTA, I developed some vital, organic, and enjoyable habits. The Training was not full of military exercises but full of the enjoyment of God. To me, the Training was a continuous mountain retreat for two years. The only difference lies in that I would know how to contact the Lord in my daily living even after this delightful experience ended. Praise the Lord for the Full-Time Training!
